Poison Waters hosts live regional version of
the Logo channel’s hit reality show

PORTLAND, Ore., February 4, 2010 – Red Cap Garage is pleased to announce the return of Portland’s own version of Ru Paul’s Drag Race, Thursday, February 4 at their location in Downtown Portland, with an open casting call to contestant’s hoping to win the title of the Northwest’s fiercest Drag Diva. Eight finalists will be chosen by industry expert judges to compete in the 13 week competition that will loosely mirror the weekly show which airs on the Logo channel and has recently been picked up by VH-1. The contestants will appear each Thursday evening along with hostess Poison Waters who will lead them through a variety of creative challenge. One will be chosen the weekly winner, and awarded prizes donated by sponsors and community partners. At the end of the series, one contestant will come out on top to claim the grand prize which includes $1,000.00 cash and round trip airfare, lodging, and VIP party passes for 2 [location to be announced at the casting call on Feb 4th] a $2300. value!
As the first regional Drag Race in the country, Red Cap Garage has partnered with the reality show’s original sponsor Absolut, and has created an altered version of the show’s format, replacing the “voting off” element with a more positive scoring system. This allows the contestants to endure every challenge and continue competing each week to impress the judges.

The competition combines performances, an “In House” challenge (completed in front of the audience), a “Take Home” challenge (completed at home before the next week’s show), and finishing off with the signature “Lip Sync For Your Life.” Logo Television is working with us and is excited about the return of the first local version of Ru Paul’s Drag Race series here in Portland.

Wednesday, January 27: Contestant pre-registration with Poison Waters at Red Cap Garage, 9pm-1am
Regional drag queens interested in competing will join the Wednesday crowd at Red Cap Garage for the monthly P.M.S Show co-hosted by Poison Waters. A simple pre-registration form can be filled out and turned in, securing a spot in the Open Casting Call, Thursday February 4th. Thursday, February 4, 8pm-1am, Open Casting Call
Hopeful contestants will appear before the panel of celebrity judges, answering questions while providing a picture and registration form. Pre registered contestant hopefuls will be seen first. Eight finalists will be selected and announced at the evenings end. These lucky 8 will each perform for our audience and judges that night and go on to compete over the upcoming months for title of the Northwest’s fiercest Drag Diva.
