In 1978, ShelleY moved to San Francisco and later Los Angeles but did not resume her court involvement until moving back to Spokane in 1984. Jumping in with both feet, ShelleY was crowned Imperial Crown Prince X of Spokane in 1985. Before stepping down as Prince, ShelleY ran for and became Emperor XI and actually acted as her own Prince for 6 weeks until she officially stepped down as Prince and crowned her own successor. As Emperor of Spokane, ShelleY tore up the circuit attending every coronation she could physically make it to including the very first Coronation of the Imperial Court of New York. ShelleY clearly remembers attending New York's first ball with Rose Empress XXVIII Dora Jar, Rose Empress XXIX Lady Elaine Peacock and Rose Emperor XIII Ray Snively. She says "everyone treated us like royalty as we sat high above the crowd in the balcony waving at the people like English royalty. We were totally being silly, but it was a lot of fun". In 1990, ShelleY relocated permanently to Portland, Oregon and began involving herself with the Imperial Sovereign Rose Court. In 1994, ShelleY became Prince XX. Since that time, ShelleY has coordinated countless production numbers, acted as the Rose Court's own "Prop Shop", been co-host of the annual "Adventures in Hangovers", is an active member of the Rose City Gay Freedom Band, and was an Esther's Pantry Board member for two years, one as operations manager. On October 27, 2001, ShelleY was crowned the Retro Rose Emperor XXVIII of the Imperial Sovereign Rose Court along side The Sterling Rose Empress XLIV Poison Waters. Emperor XXVIII ShelleY began her court involvement in the city of Spokane, Washington
nearly 25 years ago. ShelleY Hutchinson was hanging out with friends in the "Disco 425" when Spokane Empress VII
"Heavy Fog" came in and hosted the Tropicana Pageant. Intrigued by the whole event,
ShelleY became involved with the court and worked for 2 years behind the scenes helping with lights, sound and general set-up and tear down.
