Poison Waters Received one of 8 Jose Honors Awards on April 18, 2008 in
Denver, Colorado!

On Thursday, November 15th, an 86 page nomination packet was submitted to the Jose Honors Board of Governors on behalf of Poison Waters.  The Packet was compiled by poisonwaters.com webmaster Kimberlee Van Patten.  However, the letters of support were written by you; Poison's associates, friends and family.

Named for the Founder of the Imperial Court System, Her Imperial Majesty Absolute Empress I José, The Widow Norton, this award was created to recognize nationally, those individuals who have exhibited excellence in community involvement.

If you know Poison Waters, you know she probably deserves this award more than any member of the community (present Jose Honorees excluded of course!).  We all know (and Poison admits) that she is hungry for the spotlight.  This hunger results in a benefit to the community that is unmatched.  She has hosted and lent her celebrity to every imaginable charity benefit in Portland and beyond.  Seattle, Spokane, Bend and Corvallis are all regular stops on the Poison Waters express.

Not only has she spent countless hours raising money for charity, she has opened peoples minds and increased the visibility of queers in the larger community.  As Portland's media darling, Poison has appeared in every newspaper, several television shows, advertising commercials, the Darcelle XV documentary film Queens of Heart... Community Activists in Drag,  two made for television movies and the Portland edition of America's Next Top Model.  She is the face of the Portland Gay & Lesbian Yellow Pages, countless print advertisements, and was featured on the first Starlight Parade float utilizing drag queens.  In October, she was chosen as the first drag queen in the Western United States to be featured weekly on a mainstream radio show (check her out every Friday at 5:10pm on 107.5)!
